This perfomance (and judging) almost sparked a HBCU Greek uproar!!! Of course Twitter & Facebook went bananas over the white girls walking away with the prize, so you BE the judge...should the ladies of ZTA have won the $100,000?? The judges obviously thought so...but listen to the crowd (WE obviously all thought so at the time too...low key, I still do! Even though the Rhthym Nation AKAs did put in work & was together like they were still on line).

Sprite Step Off STEPSHOW ft Drake in ATL (2/20)
Greek fraternities & sororities from EVERYWHERE showed up in record numbers to witness this year's Sprite Step Off competition held at Atlanta's Civic Center on Saturday, February 20th. There wasn't an empty seat in the spot, with the exception of all the strolling taking place in the aisles. While the event was over 6 hours, evey minute seemed worth it as team after team stepped up to the plate to showcase their creativity and stepping skills. Shout out to the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha of University of Arkansas; these white girls came with one goal in mind...taking home that $100,000; it was no BIG surprise after seeing the ladies step! Recording Artist J.Holiday was on hand last night for a very special evening of the arts...but with a twist! The event was called Breaking the Silence: A Night of the Arts for Charity which not only previewed the upcoming stage play "SPEECHLESS", but also served as a benefit for Nicholas House, Inc. (an entity that provides refuge for the homeless). I found myself gripping my chin or grasping for air as the actors, actresses, and singers took the stage giving heartfelt testimonials from the play "SPEECHLESS". The play brings many faces to a problem that's known for plaguing the A...HOMELESSNESS! The play tackled homelessness from every aspect & angle, so make sure you get out in May to actually see the entire production. BREAKING NEWS: Waka Flocka Flame Shot Twice in ATL Robbery
So Icy Entertainment's own Waka Flocka was shot in Atlanta. Waka Flocka was reportedly injured in a shooting earlier today. While stopping at a gas station off Old National Highway in Atlanta, Flocka was approached by unknown men at gunpoint and was told to hand over his chain. After refusing to give up his jewelry, the suspects fired shots in the direction of Waka Flocka hitting him twice.

The event took place over the weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn overlooking the city of Atlanta, but we thought it'd BE a fresh post on the actual MLK Holiday. The event felt like a breath of fresh air...like Dr. King's DREAM is definitely being reached, and it's important for our community to see our young ladies being made a priority. The event was elegantly blessed with free gifts, dancing, singing (Cymia), and an all-star empowerment panel including Logan Browning (Meet the Browns), Debra B. Morton (Pastor/Author), Mikki Howard (Recording Artist), April Love (Celebrity Publicist), Sammie (Recording Artist), & hosted by former Xscape member Tamika Scott.

T.I. released from prison to halway house in
According to his attorney, the King of the South T.I., Clifford Harris, Jr. has been released from prison in Forrest City, Arkansas and transferred to a halfway house near Fulton County Airport in Atlanta, Georgia. He served seven months of his one year and one day sentence. Harris will remain at the halfway house for three months and still be required to perform about 500 hours of community service in addition to 23 more days of house arrest. Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Kelis announced today that she will release her next album through will.i.am Music Group / Interscope Records. Kelis has just given everyone a taste of what’s to come with the David Guetta- produced “Acapella,” which is now available on her website http://www.iamkelis.com/. The new album features production work by some of today’s most influential producers, including will.i.am, David Guetta (Black Eyed Peas), Free School, Boyz Noize, Burnz and DJ Ammo.

On Sunday, December 6th, 2009 New Yorkers will shop with their hearts to help New York children in need at Miracle on Madison Avenue (www.miracleonmadison.org), presented by BNY Mellon and benefiting The Children’s Aid Society’s health care services for children. Law and Order: SVU actress and Miracle on Madison Avenue Chair, Tamara Tunie, will assist the CEOs of BNY Mellon, Robert P. Kelly, and The Children’s Aid Society, Richard Buery, at the ribbon-cutting at noon.
Miracle on Madison Avenue is the charity shopping event that kicks off the holiday season each year in New York and brings together leading luxury retailers and shoppers on the Avenue, all to benefit New York City children. From noon to 5:00 p.m., over 75 participating Madison Avenue establishments between 57th and 86th Streets will donate 20 percent of the day’s sales to The Children’s Aid Society’s health care programs.
Tamara Tunie has lent her time, energy and talent to Miracle for four years, the past two as Chair of the event. “I am proud to once again serve as Chair of The Children’s Aid Society’s Miracle on Madison Avenue, a festive shopping event that brings out everyone’s holiday spirit while helping children in need,” said Tunie. “There’s nothing like the feeling of getting the perfect gift for someone special – unless it’s the feeling that you’re also helping New York City's kids! On December 6, Madison Avenue will be closed to traffic from 66th to 72nd Streets, the only day of the year that the Avenue is closed. A Hospitality Tent will offer tastings from The Carlyle, a luxury raffle, wreaths for sale, and live musical performances on the hour, from noon to 5 p.m.+
This is the 23nd annual Miracle on Madison Avenue. The event was created in 1987 by Martha Dupee and Noonie Marx, co-founders of the Madison Avenue Fund for Children. Since its inception, Miracle on Madison Avenue has raised over $7.3 million for charity.

Gucci Mane Arrested...to Serve at Least 6 Months of his 12 Month Sentence (11/13)
Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane was sentenced to a year in prison (November 12) for violating the terms of his probation. The rapper will begin serving his sentence immediately and could be released in as little as six months, according to MTV.com. The news comes as Gucci was promoting his album, ironically titled The State Vs. Radric Davis, on Decemburrrr (December) 8.
The album features a Gucci along side a number of high profile artists, including Lil Wayne, Cam’ron, Soulja Boy, OJ Da Juiceman, Waka Flocka, Bun B., E-40, Trina, Nicki Minaj, Keyshia Cole, Plies, Rick Ross and numerous others.
Gucci Mane’s legal problems forced him to cancel a series of controversial college appearances at Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T last month. Students on both campuses protested Gucci Mane’s appearance because of his controversial lyrics and alleged gang ties. A murder charge against Gucci Mane was dropped in January 2006, after he shot a man during a botched robbery attempt in an Atlanta-area residence. He also served time for assaulting a local nightclub promoter named Tyrone Tucker with a pool cue. [SOURCE]
